Though mainly a photographer, I like video when some action is taking place. In this gallery I have collected memorable moments from my different stays in Botswana. Thanks to Julie, my daughter, and Catherine, my wife, who operate the video while I am still shooting photos. Click on the picture as to enlarge a photo. Then, when on next screen, wait a while (depending on your connection speed. It can take up to 2 minutes with a 1 Meg ADSL line). You have a choice between more than 30 videos which are about 1 minute long each : wildlife scenes (Lion mating, Leopard or Wildogs spotting, lion cubs at play, immured Calao feeding,...) along with Safari daily life (mokoro, walking safari, night drive,...). Have fun.

TITLE : Savuti Safari Lodge Waterhole (Part 1)
Savuti Safari Lodge the place to be to make your safari from a lodge deck (or even from your room terrace). The lodge is located over the Savute channel (which is dried out) where a water hole supplies with permanent water, thanks to a pumping device, and attracts many wildlife specially during drought periods. Just relax with a cool drink but keep in close reach to your camera and maybe a pen to check the multiple species observed from the deck. We were welcomed at the lodge by elephants. Most of our first night we attended to herds of 30 to 50 Elephants running to the waterhole, sometimes loudly trumpeting to make room around them. The place is lit by night until 11PM. After that, lights are switched off and it is still more enchanting to observe or silhouette them with the moonlight...
LOCATION : Savuti Safari Lodge. Filmed from my room.
CONTENT : Elephants at Lodge water hole. An other group of Elephants at night. Greater Kudu and Giraffe at water hole.
TITLE : Savuti Safari Lodge Waterhole (Part 2)
At 4 AM, Elephants left the place for Lions that had been waiting for their turn in the surroundings. A large group of 15 with joyfull cubs playing with each others or insolently disturbing their parents nap. Have I to say that I slept very little despite the luxuary rooms we had booked ? And when I awaked, lions were still there preventing any other species to make the place. That was a great start for a safari day !
