After a quarter he looked inquisitively and seemed to be very interested by ...something. The six of us with our binoculars were unable to spot anything and could not believe it was something serious. A striking demonstration of sighting/earing/smelling abilities of this powerful predator.

Then he moved on in the night stalking watever prey it was. We followed his move until he got in close reach of a ... Jackal (Canis mesomelas). There the scene turned incredible. The Jackal noticed the Leopard. He courageously faced to him and barked furiously...and the mighty, but now unconcealed Leopard, escaped ingloriously. But the Jackal pushed further and ran after the Leopard. The hunter became the hunted (if I can say so despite the weight gap between Leopard/60kg and Jackal/12kg) for a while. But the Leopard didn't stand the shame, turned back and chased the Jackal again. But soon he will give up and both disappeared in the night. A scene I will remember forever.

An other great spotting in the area of Kwara river in Moremi. Excellent light, interesting environment and collaborative cat. This leopard was actively moving between bushes...

...but was kind enough to make some stops in more open places.

Going here an there he had been staying in good sight for at least 20 minutes (that is a kind of record for such an elusive animal)...
